Green Power SF

Protect our environment from further damage, reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, end the importation of foreign oil and embrace the concept of renewable energy.

Community Choice Aggregation, or Green Power SF, is a concept that is finally reaching maturity. CleanPowerSF is the City's current program to provide more stable long-term energy alternatives with minimal environmental impacts and ultimate cost benefits.

As your District 6 City Supervisor I will support:

  • INCENTIVES FOR CLEAN-TECH COMPANIES TO LOCATE IN SAN FRANCISCO
  • FUNDING FOR INNOVATIVE IDEAS
  • CREATION OF A CITY-WIDE CLEAN ENERGY TECHNOLOGY INCUBATOR
  • NEW BUSINESS ACCELERATION PROGRAMS
  • INCENTIVES FOR GREATER R&D
It is important to ensure that the CleanPowerSF initiative is not a cost burden to ratepayers. The costs per kilowatt hour must be competitive to current rates by PG&E. We also need to be thoughtful about suggestions that we take ownership of PG&E’s aging distribution grid. Our focus must be with the primary objective of switching our electrical generation contracts to clean-tech/green-tech sources.

Sound public policy for the City requires initiating balanced environmental policies in conjunction with forward-thinking clean energy initiatives. The City needs leaders who feel a responsibility to understand what these concepts mean in practical terms, their environmental awareness, economic viability, and technical feasibility. I am committed to this direction for District 6 and the City of San Francisco.
